Sasha is good with other dogs and cats as you can see! She is an American Bulldog, 2 years old, neutered, vaccs, chipped and insured. She can be a little bit boistrous so not for a home with young children but fine with teenagers upward. Sasha was rescued from awful circumstances as a pup but sadly ill health has caused her owner to look for a new home for Sasha.
If you can help please contact Mum via the website http://www.bordercolliesinneed.co.uk/
You will need to be home checked and also be willing to give a donation to a chosen charity.

Sadly Mum couldn't bring him home because of us and the cats but is trying to help him get a new home before Christmas.

The worst thing is that the cruel b*****ds that did this will most likely to go on breeding pups and selling them on sites like Preloved to idiots who make it easy for them. Please please PLEASE if you want a dog or a puppy go to a rescue or a registered breeder don't buy dogs out of the local paper, off internet sites or puppy farms do some research before you get your dog to see where it has come from. Other wise there will be more dogs just like Axel who suffer so you can have your sweet pet puppy.

Sorry if you have already seen this on the other blog but we felt it was worth repeating. We are going to see Aunty Su, Uncle Marc and Poppy later they are coming to stay for a while. We haven't seen Poppy for a little while so it will be great fun! Mum is going to do some training with her while she's here :)
Thursday, 15 October 2009
We really missed her but Dad spoiled us with lots of chews and bones so it wasn't too bad. The good news is that little orphan Annie has now got a lovely new home with a very kind lady who will love her and take good care of her. Meg is still looking and so is Tip.
Also looking for homes (although not via Border Collies In Need) are two Lab x girls both easy going and laid back, aged around 5 years. Also two Staff x Collies. Please get in touch if you think you might be able to help any of them and Mum will pass you onto the people concerned.

Mum has been trying to rescue dogs from the free ads all week, the situation is getting really really bad. Please people don't give your pets away for free, they are worth so much more of your care and respect. If you can't keep them take them to a rescue who will look after them, find them good homes, do checks to make sure they will be okay and if anything goes wrong will take back your pet until a safe suitable place can be found.
Pets are not disposable!!!!! We are living, breathing creatures, we feel pain, stress and anxiety just like you do.

Mum is able to get some much deserved rest cause she's still not well. In fact it's lunch time and she still in her pj's - how cool is that!
Have you seen Tip??? He is the latest of the Border Collies In Need dogs and he's very handsome. Anyone who has him will be very lucky.
Everyone is busy raising money for Border Collies In Need we are donating our pocket money to sponsor Aunty Su but we would like to do something of our own, maybe a sponsored walk.
Wednesday, 16 September 2009
We are still missing Pops and Aunty Su, especially Bear who misses her playmate loads.
Mum got very emotional this morning when the postman brought the new paying in book and cheque book for Border Collies In Need, everyone is so excited about the new project to save us Collies.
Wednesday, 9 September 2009
Auntie Su and Poppy have been staying with us to help unpack and get the place sorted so we are having great fun. Bear and Poppy have become glued at the hip. Dad's still working away and Mum really hasn't been well because of all the stress from Home-A-Dog and those nasty Trustees. We would like to go and bite them on the bum!!
Things are moving on with Border Collies In Need and we are excited about being able to help all those Collies.
Saturday, 22 August 2009
We are really excited about the new rescue, all those Collies to meet and play with!
Big thanks and hugs to Auntie Helen who is busy building the new website and Auntie Diane (who we will miss loads) and Auntie Sue for taking on the mamouth task of fund raising for Border Collies In Need. They are all wonderful and we are lucky to have them on board!

Tuesday 18th August
It was nice to see so many friends both doggie and human.
The highlight of the weekend for us (and I think 'Mum' and 'Dad' too) was a chance to see Poppy again. When she left Home-A-Dog she was just 9 weeks old and she had been very poorly and almost died, she had been suffering with Strangles but we all helped nurse her back to health. This time she was a wonderful, happy, healthy girl and we all had great fun running around and playing together. We didn't want her to go but her new 'Mum' & 'Dad' love her very much and would hate to be parted. We miss her though and can't wait to see her again.
It was lovely to have cuddles from Auntie Helen too. She had her doggies with her too - Sky and Blue but we didn't get to play with them this time.
Everyone was Atka (ed) which is a bit like being Tango(ed ) only less fizzy and more furry but no one seemed to mind.

Big thanks to Steph and family for taking him in and doing such a good job with him so far.

Saturday 8th August
We think that black dogs must be very unlucky because poor Charlie has had such a hard time!
Tuesday, 4 August 2009
Tuesday 4th August
Kanga went off to Greyhound & Lurcher rescue on Monday and she has now settled in happily until she finds her forever home.
'Mum' says there is another Greyhound at the Pound waiting to come across, I think they must be like buses and always come in twos!

Saturday 1st August
Did you know that statistically black dogs are harder to home than any other colour of dog?
Don't let Charlie become just another statistic. :(

Thursday 30th July
This is Charlie relaxing in his foster home, we haven't met him yet because he's over in South Wales and because he hated the kennels he was staying at 'Mum' decided to take him on and provide him with a foster home where he could make friends. Charlie is approx 6 years old and was given up by his previous owners, he is living in a lovely foster home at the moment with children, other dogs, cats, chickens and a whole array of small furry animals and he gets on amazingly with everyone. Charlie knows basic commands, is house trained and travels well. His only problem is having been in kennels for a long period of time he has some degree of separation anxiety which his new owners must be prepared to work on. Having said that Charlie is improving everyday and his foster mum is working on his issues. Charlie is a sweet dog and deserves a home of his own.

Tuesday 28th July
Sadly for us, the kennels are now open again and by the end of the week we will be full again. Expected doggies are a Lurcher, a Greyhound and a Jack Russell, I don't think we will be allowed to play with any of those and Sage the new Collie is too old to run around with us. Although he is very friendly and wagged his tail when he met us in the yard this morning.

Monday 13th July
'Mum' tells us we have a new dog coming in this week a Staffy called Ragga who is a big softie! Lets hope he's easier to home than poor Bess who was with us for a long time.
Tuesday, 7 July 2009
Tuesday 7th July
The vet came and took out Boomers stitches today so he can run and play again without that silly lamp shade on his head.

Saturday 4th July
She has been very busy today seeing dogs off to their new homes.
Blue has gone off to start his new life in Kidderminster where he will have the company of an equally lively female collie and our friend Spiros has also gone to start a new life in Holyhead with a lovely young family.
Talli should have gone to his new home today but he is still with us where I suspect he may stay because I heard 'Mum' say to Andy & Amanda yesterday that if he didn't go she would have to keep him because we all love him so much.
Wednesday, 1 July 2009
Wednesday July 1st
We hope that Auntie Sue is also going to come down with Poppy we are quite excited to see the lovely Poppy again.
Talli is coming on very well and is not at all shy when he is with us and he has even met Atka who is loads bigger than we are. Someone is coming to see him at the weekend.
Blue is off to Surrey next Tuesday (thankyou Andy).

Tuesday 23rd June
We have Spiros who is a Collie X but we don't know what with. She is sweet and very waggy.
Boomer who is a Huntaway X he is big and bouncey but a bit scared of people, 'Mum' says he hasn't been out very much and missed out on his socialisation when he was a puppy.
Yoyo who is a GSD, she is lovely, we like her a lot.
And Paxo who is a little Terrier type dog, he is friendly too. He has had some sort of trauma to his head and has a couple of nasty wounds.
Both Boomer and Paxo are off to the vet on Thursday to be castrated and so Paxo can have his head checked.

Friday 19th June
'Dad' picked up two new dogs from the Pound last night - both are nice and friendly but we probably won't get to play with them because they are bigger and older than us.
Spiros is a collie x she is nice and friendly and about 2 years old. She likes other dogs and loves people!
Boomer is a Huntaway x and he is really nice too. He is a little bit shy around people but lively once he gets to know you.

Thursday 18th June
Talli is getting braver and loves to play and Blue is very excited and jumps around a lot!
We all played ball and got lots of exercise running.
Salsa left us today for her new home in Sheffield - good luck Salsa!

Tuesday 16th June
The vet came this afternoon and started his vaccinations and 'Mum' has wormed and deflead him too.
Every dog that comes into the rescue immediately gets wormed and treated for fleas costing approx £10 depending on size, any unvaccinated dogs get their jabs at the cost of a further £30 and when ever possible dogs are neutered before being homed at a further cost of upwards of £100 depending again on size. It's no wonder that funds are running low! Even with a minimum donation of £80 per dog you can see we don't even recoup what we have spent on basic needs.
This also does not take into account the fact that often dogs coming into the centre have health related problems and will need additional veterinary care costing yet more money.
So please, please don't feel that we ought to just give dogs away because "they are getting a home" as was said to 'Mum' today. Rescuing, rehabilitating and re homing dogs is not a cheap process and we are solely reliant on donations and fund raising, we do not have a constantly refilling pot of gold hidden under the bed despite what people may think.

Monday 15th June
We said goodbye to Mouse and Scruff today because they have both gone to our friends Border Collie Trust in Staffordshire. We will really miss Mouse because we had lots of fun with her.
We had another collie pup in today though, he's a tri colour like Loki and really sweet. He is only about 6 months old so he will be able to play with us in a few days time when he's settled.
Friday, 12 June 2009
Friday 12th June
'Dad' looked after us all really well but we are still glad she's back. We have been playing with our friend Salsa and trying to play with Scrappy but he is such a grump!
Scrappy needs a foster home because he finds life in the kennels rather stressful and it's not helping with him being so anxious as well.
Both Scruff and Mouse are being passed onto Border Collie Trust on Monday to make room for more Poundies to come across. So it's all change again next week!
Saturday, 6 June 2009
Saturday 6th June
We really like Mist now called Salsa, she is crazy! 'Mum' says she's a Sprollie which is a Springer crossed with a Collie, she is a real live wire and can run nearly as fast as me and Bear. 'Mum' thinks she would be good at agility, she definately needs something to do.
Scrappy is very frightened and just barks at everything, he's older than 'Mum' thought and must have been crossed with something quite small. He likes dogs but he doesn't know how to play.
Scruff is about 2 years old but really friendly despite having had a really bad home where he was knocked about. He likes to chase the ball but hasn't learned to bring it back yet.
Mouse likes to play ball now too. Unfortunately she has just come into season so we won't be able to play with her for a while.

Wednesday 3rd June
'Dad' picked up a lovely but very shy Collie boy puppy from the Pound today. He was not too sure about coming from the Pound and nipped 'Dad', it was only a little scatch though and 'Dad' didn't mind because the puppy was just scared. 'Dad' has called him Scrappy Do which does suit him quite well because he is just a little scrap of a dog. He is about Bears age (6 months) but much smaller than Bear so he will need feeding up. He's black like Bear with speckled legs.
Our other new friend is a Collie x named Mist, she was a 'hand in' and came to us because she has been living on a farm and she likes chasing the sheep was getting into mischief. She is not at all shy but very lively and loves to run and play ball. Mist is 6 months old too so we can all have lots of fun together.

Friday 29th May
'Mum' told us that Silver is going to her new home tomorrow so we have said our goodbyes. We hope she gets on well with her new family. We will miss her.
Oz is also leaving us in the morning to go on to breed rescue. We didn't get to meet him properly but we won't miss his high pitched squeaky barks. He has been quite noisy and 'Mum' has been worried about the neighbours.

Tuesday 26th May
Our friend Silver met her new Collie companions today and all went well so that means she will be leaving us in a few days. We will miss her, she has been great fun. We taught her to play which she is rather good at now.
Dovey has made great progress over the last few days and has been running and chasing with us in the dog run. At first she was scared but when she saw us doing it she decided it might be fun and joined in. Today she even got the ball a couple of times. 'Mum' is delighted with her improvement. Still a long way to go but all the signs are good.
Saturday, 23 May 2009
Saturday 23rd May
Our other friend Misty is really nice too and she is much braver than Dovey and will go for a walk as long as you are gentle with her and don't make any sudden movements. It's sad to think that someone has been mean to her, she is such a sweet girl.
'Mum' says we are having another Collie come in next week so I hope he or she is nice too and can join in our games.

Monday 18th May
Auntie Diane sat in with Dovey today for a while and was shocked at how frightened she is. She is making progress but it will be very slow.
Saturday, 16 May 2009
Saturday 16th May
Dovey is the most frightened Collie we have ever seen and 'Mum' thinks it will take a long time and a lot of patience to bring her around. 'Mum' has been sitting with her again today and has managed to stroke her but poor Dovey is completely closed down and just stares into space. 'Mum' asked Auntie Helen to post her up on the website today but says that Dovey will need a very special home. We hope it will be a home where there are already other Collies so they will help her to be more confident and happy.

Friday 15th May
We have a new arrival at the kennels a lovely little girl Collie called Dovey, she is tri coloured like me, not black and white like Bear. She has come from a farm and is really terrified of everything. 'Mum' has been sitting in Dovey's kennel, very quiet and still, for ages today just trying to be accepted in the same space. It's so sad when dogs arrive like this mainly through lack of care and socialisation, 'Mum' gets upset for them but I know she will win her over in the end, look what she did with Bear and her sisters. Poor Dovey was so frightened you could see her heart pounding in her chest. 'Mum' says it will be a while before we are allowed to play with her. We don't get to play with all the dogs by the way, just the collies sometimes if 'Mum' thinks it will be alright.
Thursday, 14 May 2009
Wednesday 13th May
Ozzy has also been 'in the wars' and has managed to cut his nose on some glass whilst he was out walking, he has a nasty gash but because it's on his nose the vet can't really fix it so it will just need to heal up on it's own.
It was a dry evening so we were able to go and join in 'Mum's' fun agility with all the other dogs. We really enjoy all the running around and socialising, although Bear is such a little madam she gets very excited and barks at all the other dogs. I think she is especially jealous of Honey who is a beautiful Golden Retriever that I have my eye on.
Monday, 11 May 2009
Monday 11th May
It's been very warm and sunny today and we have been able to play out for most of the time. Meg came this morning and all us Collies had a great run around together, sometimes Meg and Bear are grouchy with each other but they were friends today (sibblings eh!). I haven't been able to play ball or run around too much today because I'm limping a little bit so 'Mum' says I have to take it easy in case the sun keeps shining and we get to do agility this week.
Saturday, 9 May 2009
Saturday 9th May
Auntie Megan came today and spent a lot of time striping out Silver's coat, she was very good considering how matted it was, mostly she lay with her head on Megan's knee whilst she cut and combed and finally brushed what was left. Silver looks a lot better now, she has a pretty pink bandage on her leg because 'Mum' and Megan found a bit cut on her leg so 'Mum' cleaned and dressed it for her. Silver has a very sweet nature and didn't mind a bit. We think she is very brave. We would like her to stay but 'Mum' says that 'Dad' would leave home if we got anymore dogs!
Thursday, 7 May 2009
Thursday May 7th
Silver the collie is nice and gentle, we like her a lot, although she could do with a bath! Auntie Megan is going to do that on Saturday and then she should be much nicer to be around.
Tuesday, 5 May 2009
Tuesday 5th May
Meg came to play with us again today, she is a lot like Bear and runs up and down following me everywhere. She even managed to get the ball off me a couple of times so I think she is going to be a fast dog, perhaps she would like flyball.
Saturday, 2 May 2009
Saturday 2nd May
We are hoping to have another playmate in a few weeks because 'Mum' says that Auntie Nannette is getting a new puppy just like Honey. We like Honey, she's a little bit bonkers but that's okay because we are too. It's nice to have lots of doggy friends to play with.

Friday 1st May
Hi I'm Bear, Loki told you a part of my story on Wednesday. I was another unwanted farm collie and I am so glad that I ended up at Home-A-Dog and not the horrible puppy farm in Bala were I was destined for originally with my two sisters. When that didn't happen I was meant to be drowned by the horrible farmer that we lived with first of all. Luckily a nice lady learned of our plight and phoned up 'Mum' to take us instead. That was really good luck because by then we were really very frightened and I had learned that biting was the best form of defense. 'Mum' has taught me that I don't need to do that now because I am safe. I like it here very much with Loki and the other dogs that live indoors with us. I especially like 'Mum's' cat and try to play with him but he doesn't always like it and tries to run away. Sometimes I put my paw on him to make him stay but he gets cross and makes a loud hissing sound so I let him go. I also like the two rats that are in a cage in the caravan, I bark at them and yesterday I was very naughty and pulled their cage off the chest whilst 'Mum' was out being busy with the kennel dogs. Poor 'Mum', she was very worried about them and of course all the mess I had made. Luckily the rats were non the worse for their ordeal.
